This live camera looks out over Elbigenalp, a village in the Lechtal valley of Tyrol, Austria. Watching it gives a quick sense of the mountain weather and light at this altitude before you plan a walk or drive. The page also shows local time and a three-day forecast.
Elbigenalp sits at about 1215 metres in the Lech valley, one of the Alpine valleys running through western Tyrol. The village is known for its traditional Tyrolean architecture and its role as a base for hiking and cross-country trails. Surrounding slopes rise steeply, so the sun reaches the valley floor later in the day and the scenery changes quickly with cloud and light.
The camera is a mountain view, so the most interesting moments tend to be early morning, when mist may lift from the valley, and late afternoon, when the peaks catch low sun. Snow cover in winter and green meadows in summer change the scene noticeably. Depending on the view and weather, you may see cloud drifting across the ridges or clear skies after a front has passed.
Summers are mild with warm days and cool evenings, while winters are cold with regular snowfall. Early summer and early autumn are often the most settled periods for walking. Nearby cameras include Bernhardseck, about 2 km away, Holzgau at 7 km, Stanzach at 15 km and the Oberstdorf ski jump at 16 km, useful for comparing conditions along the valley.
