This live camera looks out over the Axamer Lizum ski area at about 2050 metres above sea level, aimed at the Birgitzköpfl summit area in the Tyrolean Alps. It is useful for checking snow and visibility before heading up, or simply for seeing what the mountain looks like right now.

About Axamer Lizum

Axamer Lizum sits in the Stubai Alps above the Inn valley near Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol. It is one of the best known winter sports areas in Austria and hosted alpine skiing events for the Winter Olympics held in Innsbruck in 1964 and 1976. The landscape is open high alpine terrain with broad slopes, rocky ridges and views down towards the valley.

What you can watch

The view is most informative in winter, when you can judge fresh snowfall, cloud cover and whether the upper slopes are in sun or in mist. In summer the same view shows green alpine meadows and hiking weather. Early morning often gives the clearest air, while afternoon cloud builds up over the peaks on many days. Exact content depends on the framing of the view at any given moment.

Practical notes

The area is reached by road from Innsbruck, and the valley floor is generally several degrees warmer than the summit. Winter brings reliable snow from December to March, and the warmer months suit walking and mountain biking. Nearby cameras on this site include Hoadl, the Hoadl-Haus restaurant and FlyingCam in Axams, which together give a wider picture of the area.
