St. Leonhard im Pitztal - Rifflsee
🇦🇹 Tyrol · Austria
This live stream shows the Rifflsee area above St. Leonhard im Pitztal in the Tyrolean Alps. It is a useful way to check mountain conditions, cloud cover and snow before planning a hike or a trip up the valley.
St. Leonhard im Pitztal is a small village at the head of the Pitztal, one of the high valleys of Tyrol in western Austria. The Pitztal runs south toward the glaciers of the Ötztal Alps, and the valley is known for its glacier skiing, alpine huts and dramatic granite peaks. The Rifflsee is a reservoir lake at high altitude, set in a rocky basin that reflects the surrounding summits on calm days.
The view is most rewarding in clear morning light, when the peaks and the lake surface are most visible. Cloud often builds over the ridges in the afternoon, so the scene can change quickly. In winter and spring, snow cover shapes the landscape, while in summer the meadows and water are more prominent. Check the live picture before setting out, as fog and weather can hide the summits for long periods.
Summers are short and mild at valley level, while the high ground stays cold and windy, even in July. Late June to September is the usual window for walking, and autumn offers stable weather. Nearby cameras include the Braunschweiger Hütte, the Pitztaler Gletscher café and the Sölden Schwarze Schneid stations, which give a wider picture of the mountain conditions.
