This live stream from Cochrane, a small town in northeastern Ontario, lets you check conditions in the town without travelling there. It is useful if you are planning a trip to the Clay Belt or simply want to see the weather and sky over the boreal forest region.
Cochrane sits on the Clay Belt of northeastern Ontario, a flat, poorly drained plain left by glacial Lake Ojibway. The town lies at roughly 275 metres above sea level and is surrounded by boreal forest, lakes and farmland. It is best known as a rail and service hub on the Ontario Northland line and as the gateway to Polar Bear Express trips toward Hudson Bay.
The view is a live video stream, so you can follow changing light, snow, fog and seasonal shifts across the day. Depending on the framing, you may see streets, buildings or the open sky over the town. Winter views are often the most striking, when snow and low sun change the scene quickly. Check the stream in the morning or late afternoon for the softest light.
Cochrane has a cold continental climate with long, snowy winters and warm, short summers. Summer, roughly June to August, is the most comfortable time to visit and to enjoy outdoor activities. Nearby cameras in Ashley, Timmins, Moonbeam Township and Temiskaming Shores show the wider region, which is reached mainly by highway and rail.
