The Blue Mountains - Smart Alec Trail @ Blue Mountain Resort
๐จ๐ฆ Ontario ยท Canada โ Altitude 300 m
This live camera looks out over the Smart Alec Trail at Blue Mountain Resort in the Blue Mountains, Ontario. It is a quick way to see how the slopes look from the ground before planning a visit. The stream is provided by its owner and embedded here with a link to the original source.
The Blue Mountains rise from the Niagara Escarpment, a long limestone ridge that runs above the southern shore of Georgian Bay. The resort sits at around 300 metres and is one of the best known ski and mountain bike destinations in Ontario. The town is small, shaped by its trails, its lifts and the lake breezes that drift up from the water. Forest covers much of the hillside, and the area changes sharply from one season to the next.
Because the title names a trail, the camera is most likely pointed along a slope or path rather than at a fixed landmark. Depending on the angle, you may see grass and trees in summer, bright leaf colour in early autumn, or snow cover once winter sets in. Mornings often bring clearer skies, while afternoons can bring cloud build-up in warm months. Watch after a fresh snowfall or in late afternoon light for the most contrast.
Winters are cold and snowy, with reliable snow for skiing from about December to March, and summers are warm and humid. Spring can be muddy and autumn is often the most colourful period. The resort is about one kilometre from the camera's location in the Blue Mountain area, and nearby views in Collingwood, eight kilometres away, and Wasaga Beach, about 24 kilometres off, are good options for a wider look at the region.
