Kittilä is a municipality in the Lapland region of northern Finland, about 170 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. Levi is its best known area, a fell resort around a single main fell with a dense network of ski slopes and a lively village centre. The landscape is open fell country, birch and pine forest, frozen lakes and wide skies, with a quiet, spacious atmosphere that changes sharply between seasons.
The camera shows the Zero Point area as a live view, and what you see depends on the weather, light and season. In winter the snow, the slopes and the low sun are the most striking features, while in summer the view is greener and the light lasts for many hours. Watch in the early morning or late afternoon, when the light is low and the surfaces show texture best. The picture is not a guarantee of sharpness or night viewing, so check the conditions on the page first.
Winter from roughly November to April is the main season, with cold temperatures often below minus 15 degrees and short days, while summer brings mild weather and the midnight sun period in June and July. Levi is well connected by road and has an airport nearby. Nearby cameras on VizCams include Köngäs, about 7 kilometres away, and Kolari, which is a longer drive to the west.
