Roscoff - Île de Batz

This live stream looks out over Île de Batz, a small island just off the coast of Roscoff in northern Brittany. It is a place to check the sea, the sky and the light on the Channel coast before planning a crossing or a walk. The stream is provided by Roscoff Tourisme.
Île de Batz lies a short boat ride from Roscoff, in the Finistère part of Brittany. It is a low, green island with a small harbour, narrow lanes, gardens shaped by the wind and a coastline of rocks and sandy coves. Its mild, damp climate and the strong tides of the Channel give the area its character, and the island has long been a quiet place for walking and gardening rather than a busy resort.
The camera is a nature view, so the most useful things to follow are the sea state, the tide and the cloud cover moving across the water. Mornings and late afternoons often bring the clearest light, and the tide changes the look of the shoreline several times a day. Weather is the main factor, so a calm, sunny spell is usually the most rewarding time to watch.
Boats to the island leave from Roscoff, and the crossing takes only a few minutes. The climate is best in late spring and summer, when the weather is generally milder, though winds can be strong at any time of year. Nearby on VizCams you can also open the Roscoff view, the Roscoff harbour camera and the Saint-Pol-de-Léon camera.
