This live stream from Baden-Baden, the spa town at the northern edge of the Black Forest, lets you check the town before you travel or simply keep an eye on it from anywhere. The camera is run by the city of Baden-Baden and is embedded here with a link to the official source.
Baden-Baden sits in a narrow valley where the Black Forest meets the Rhine plain, about 163 metres above sea level. It has been known for its thermal springs since Roman times and grew into a fashionable resort in the nineteenth century, when grand hotels, colonnades and parks were built around the baths. Its atmosphere is elegant and relaxed, with wooded hills rising straight behind the town centre.
Depending on the view, you may see the town's streets, public squares or surrounding green hills. Daytime offers the clearest picture of the architecture and of how busy the centre is. Clear mornings and late afternoons in spring and autumn are often the most pleasant to observe, while winter fog or rain can soften the hills and hide the valley.
The climate is mild with warm summers and cool, wet winters, so late spring and early autumn are a comfortable time to visit. The town is easy to explore on foot, and the nearby Black Forest is reachable by short drive or train. Other cameras in the region include Bad Herrenalb with its Schwarzwald panorama, Bad Wildbad, and the Buchkopfturm lookout near Oppenau.
