Wolfratshausen - Weidachmühle
🇩🇪 Bavaria · Germany — Altitude 600 m
This camera looks out over the Wolfratshausen area in the Upper Bavarian foothills, close to the Isar valley and the edge of the Alps. It is useful if you want to check how the sky and the nearby hills look before heading out, or simply follow the scenery from home.
Wolfratshausen sits on the Isar river south of Munich, where the broad river valley meets the first rolling hills leading toward the Bavarian Alps. The town is a gateway to the Isar and to the lakes and moors of the Alpine foreland. Its character is quiet and green, with forest, meadows and small villages around it, and the mountains often appear as a distant line on clear days.
The view is most interesting in the early morning and late afternoon, when low light brings out the shape of the hills and the colours of the fields and woods. Clear weather tends to reveal the Alpine ridges, while cloud often sits low over the valley in autumn and winter. Seasonal change is clear here, from green spring meadows to snow-covered slopes in winter. Conditions depend on the weather, so the live picture is the best guide to what is visible at any given moment.
Upper Bavaria has a temperate climate with warm summers and cold winters, and the foothills can be wetter than the city of Munich. Late spring through early autumn is generally the most pleasant time for walks and cycling along the Isar. The area is easy to reach by regional train from Munich. Nearby cameras include Münsing near the Ammersee, Bad Tölz further up the Isar, and Wackersberg on the Blomberg slopes.
