Murnau - Vue vers le sud
🇩🇪 Bavaria · Germany — Altitude 670 m
This live camera looks south from Murnau am Staffelsee in Upper Bavaria, toward the mountains that rise above the Loisach valley. It is a useful way to check how the Alps look before a trip or to follow the weather above the lake. The live player, local time and forecast are shown on this page.
Murnau am Staffelsee is a market town at about 670 metres above sea level, on the northern edge of the Bavarian Alps. It is known for its painted houses, the Schlossmuseum in the old palace, and its links to the painter Gabriele Münter and the Blue Rider circle who worked here in the early twentieth century. The town sits between the Staffelsee lake and the foothills, so the landscape changes quickly from farmland to forest to high peaks.
The camera points south, so its main interest is the mountain horizon and the sky above it. Clear mornings tend to give the sharpest view of the peaks, while afternoon cloud often builds over the ridges and can hide them. Autumn and winter can bring snow to the higher slopes, which is worth watching if you plan to visit. Conditions depend on the weather, so check the live view before expecting a particular scene.
Summers are mild and the best season for walking and lake days, while winter suits those who want snow sports nearby. Murnau is served by rail from Munich and is a convenient base for the region. Other cameras nearby include the Oberammergau view one kilometre away, the Hörnlebahn cable car and the Herzogstand viewpoint over Kochelsee, each around eleven kilometres away.
