Meilerhütte - Wetterstein - vue sur le refuge
🇩🇪 Bavaria · Germany — Altitude 2366 m
This live camera looks out over the Meilerhütte, a mountain hut at about 2,366 metres in the Wetterstein range of Bavaria. It is a useful window on alpine conditions, showing how the weather and light change above the treeline. Check it before a hike to see whether the peaks are clear.
The Meilerhütte stands in the Wetterstein Mountains, a limestone range on the German side of the Alps close to the Austrian border. The area is known for rugged peaks, steep valleys and the Zugspitze, Germany's highest mountain. Hikers and climbers use the hut as a base for routes through high, open terrain where the scenery changes quickly with cloud and wind.
The camera is most rewarding in clear morning light, when the rock faces are sharply lit and cloud has not yet built up over the ridges. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer, so the view can shift from bright to grey within an hour. Winter brings snow to the hut area, and the view then often shows a very different, quieter landscape.
Summer, roughly June to September, is the main season for walking in the Wetterstein, with snow usually lingering into late spring at this altitude. Expect cool temperatures and sudden weather changes even on warm days. Nearby cameras on this site include the Zugspitze view to the north-west, Leutasch and Seefeld in the Tyrolean valleys, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
