Winterberg - Kappe
🇩🇪 North Rhine-Westphalia · Germany
This live camera looks out from the Kappe area near Winterberg, a winter sports town in the Sauerland hills of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is useful for judging snow, cloud and visibility on the slopes before you travel. The stream comes from the owner's embedded player and is shown here with a link to its source.
Winterberg sits in the forested uplands of the Sauerland, one of Germany's best-known low mountain ranges. The Kappe is the ski area closest to the town centre and forms part of the local network of runs and lifts. The landscape is a mix of spruce and beech woodland, open hillsides and small villages, with a lively outdoor scene throughout the year.
The view is tied to the ski area, so the most informative moments are mornings after fresh snowfall and clear days when the slopes are groomed. Winter weekends tend to bring the most activity. In summer and autumn the same hills are green or colourful and show hiking and cycling conditions. Because weather in the hills changes quickly, cloud and fog can hide the view for long periods.
The Sauerland has a cool, damp climate, with the snow season usually running from about December to March, though this varies from year to year. Winterberg is reached by road from Kassel or Siegen. Other cameras in the area include Erlebnisberg Kappe, Brembergkopf, the Rauher Busch chairlift and the Postwiese in Neuastenberg, which together give a wider picture of conditions.
