Χ.Κ ΜΑΙΝΑΛΟ
🇬🇷 Peloponnese · Greece — Altitude 1600 m
This camera looks out from the Mainalo ski centre on Mount Mainalo, in the Arcadia highlands of the Peloponnese. It is useful for checking whether snow is settling at altitude before you drive up from the valley towns.
Mainalo is a forested mountain range in Arcadia, rising to well over a thousand metres above the surrounding plains. Its slopes are covered with pine and fir, and the area is known to Greeks mainly as a winter destination for skiing and snow play. In summer the altitude makes it a cooler alternative to the lowlands, with walking routes through the woods and open ridges.
The view is set at the mountain centre at roughly 1600 metres, so the most informative moments are early mornings and cold spells, when snow cover and cloud level are easiest to judge. Depending on the view, you may see snow on the pistes, the surrounding forest and passing mist. Conditions can change within an hour, so checking the live picture just before a trip is more reliable than relying on a forecast alone.
Winter brings the most reliable snow, usually from December to March, though depth varies from year to year. Summer is mild compared with the coast, and autumn is pleasant for walking. Nearby cameras include Tripoli in Arcadia and Androtsaina, which help you compare conditions across the region before heading up the mountain roads.
