Tihany is a small peninsula village on Lake Balaton, Central Europe's largest lake, in Veszprém county. It is known for its historic abbey, its narrow streets running down to the water and its long views across the lake. Echo Hill sits about 180 metres above sea level, which gives a broad outlook over the water and the hills around it. The setting is quiet and rural, with vineyards and orchards on the slopes.
The camera is an HD live video stream, so you can follow changes in light and weather across the lake. Early morning and late afternoon often bring the clearest light and the most interesting shadows on the water. Lake conditions change quickly with wind, so the view can look very different from one hour to the next. Clouds and haze are common in cooler months, which can soften distant shores.
Balaton summers are warm and popular with swimmers and sailors, while winters are mild with occasional frost and fog. Spring and early autumn are often the most comfortable seasons for walking the hills. Nearby webcams cover Csopak, the Kőröshegy viaduct, Balatonalmádi on the lake shore and western Veszprém, so you can compare conditions along the region.
