This live feed looks out over Rome, the Italian capital set on the Tiber with centuries of layered history. Watch the city's roofs, domes and streets as the light changes through the day, and check conditions before you plan a visit.

About the city

Rome sits in the Lazio region of central Italy, roughly 20 kilometres from the Tyrrhenian coast. It is known for ancient ruins, Renaissance and Baroque churches, and busy piazzas where daily life runs alongside some of the best-known monuments in the world. The city is hilly in places and its skyline is shaped by domes, bell towers and pine trees rather than tall office blocks.

What to watch and when

Depending on the view, you may see rooftops, church domes, traffic and pedestrians moving through the old centre. Mornings often bring softer light and quieter streets, while late afternoon warms the stone and brings the evening crowds out. Clear days are the most rewarding for checking the skyline, and weekends and public holidays tend to be busier.

Practical notes

Rome has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. Spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable months for walking the sights. Nearby cameras on this site cover the Vatican, Piazza Venezia and the Colosseum, and the coast at Fregene is about a 30-minute drive away for a change of scene.
