This live stream from Sestri Levante lets you check the Ligurian coast before you go or simply enjoy the view from afar. The picture is supplied by the town itself and embedded here with a link to the original source. Local time and current weather are shown alongside the player.
Sestri Levante sits on a narrow isthmus between two bays in the Gulf of Tigullio, in the Italian region of Liguria. The old town and the Baia del Silenzio are its best-known features, and the coastline is cut by steep green hills that run down to clear water. The town has a long fishing and seafaring tradition, and its harbour and promenade still carry much of its everyday life.
The view is best in the morning, when light falls softly on the water, and in the late afternoon, when the hills turn warm colours. Weather changes quickly along this coast, so a calm sea can turn choppy within an hour. Check the live time and conditions shown on this page before deciding when to look again.
Liguria has mild winters and warm, fairly dry summers, with spring and early autumn often the most comfortable months for walking. Sestri Levante is on the coastal railway, which makes it easy to reach from Genoa and the Cinque Terre. Nearby cameras at Lavagna, Cavi di Lavagna and Chiavari show neighbouring stretches of the same coast.
