This live camera overlooks the Tatsuyama ski slope in Akiota, close to the Kurohan triple lift station. It is useful for seeing how the mountain looks at the moment, whether snow is settling or the slopes are clear. The page also shows local time and the weather forecast for the area.
Akiota is a small town in the north of Hiroshima Prefecture, in the hilly interior of western Honshu, away from the big coastal cities. The Kurohan area sits at roughly 1,200 metres and is known as one of the region's main winter sports grounds. The landscape is forested mountains with deep valleys, and the town has a quiet, rural character that changes sharply with the seasons.
The title points to a ski slope near a lift station, so the view is most likely of pistes and lift lines. Depending on the view, you may see skiers and snow cover during the winter season, while in warmer months the slopes can look green and quiet. Morning and early afternoon usually offer the clearest light, and fog or low cloud often sits in the valleys on damp days.
Winter is the main season for visiting, with snow typically lasting from December into March, while autumn brings colourful foliage to the surrounding forests. Akiota is best reached by car from Hiroshima city. Other cameras in the region include Osorakan, about 2 km away, and several views in Iwakuni and Hatsukaichi further south.
