This live camera looks out over Eide in Grimstad, a coastal town on Norway's southern shore. It is a useful window for checking the sea and sky before a trip or simply keeping an eye on the weather in this part of Agder. The player below runs directly from the camera owner's stream.
Grimstad sits on the Skagerrak coast in the county of Agder, roughly a short drive from Kristiansand. The town grew around shipping and fishing and still keeps its old timber houses and harbour character in the centre. The landscape around it is low granite hills, pine and birch forest, and small islands scattered along the shoreline, which gives the coast a calm, open feel.
Depending on the view, you may see the water, boats moving in and out, and how the light changes over the coast. Mornings and late afternoons often bring the clearest sky and softest light. Weather is the big variable here, so watch for fog banks rolling in off the Skagerrak or clouds lifting after rain, which can change the scene quickly.
The coast has mild, damp winters and cool summers compared with inland Norway, and long summer evenings are common in June and July. Late spring and summer are the most comfortable months to visit. Kristiansand is the nearest larger city and has its own cameras, and several other coastal views in the region are listed on this page.
