Butorowy wierch
🇵🇱 Lesser Poland · Poland — Altitude 1162 m
This live camera looks out from Butorowy Wierch, a mountain ridge at about 1,160 metres above the Podhale area near Zakopane. It is useful for seeing how the mountains look right now, whether cloud is sitting on the peaks, and how the light is changing over the valley.
Butorowy Wierch rises above Zakopane, the winter sports and mountain town at the foot of the High Tatras in southern Poland. The Podhale region around it is a mix of open meadows, scattered farmsteads and forested slopes, and the Tatra range forms the backdrop to the south. The area is known for its wooden architecture, highland culture and hiking trails that lead toward the main peaks.
Because the camera is mounted on a mountain, the picture depends heavily on weather. On clear days you may see the outline of the Tatra ridges and the valley below. Morning often brings the clearest air, while afternoon clouds frequently build over the peaks in summer. In winter, snow cover changes the scene completely, and low cloud can hide the view for hours at a time.
Zakopane is reached by road and rail from Kraków, and the mountain is a short distance from the town centre. Summers are mild and wet at this altitude, while winters are cold and snowy. Nearby cameras on this site show the Gubałówka cable car station, the Krupówki promenade in Zakopane and a panoramic view over the Tatras from Kościelisko.
