Widok na jezioro i zamek w czorsztynie
🇵🇱 Lesser Poland · Poland — Altitude 523 m
This camera looks out over Czorsztyn Lake, a reservoir in the Pieniny mountains of southern Poland, toward the ruins of the medieval castle on its shore. It suits anyone planning a trip to the Polish Jura or wanting to see how the water and sky look right now.
Czorsztyn Lake was created by a dam on the Dunajec River and sits in a valley framed by the limestone peaks of the Pieniny. The castle above the water was built in the Middle Ages to guard the river crossing and the trade route through the mountains. The area is known for its rafting trips through the Dunajec Gorge, its forests and its quiet villages, and the mountain ridges around the lake give the landscape a dramatic character.
The view is most interesting in the morning, when mist often lies on the water, and in the late afternoon, when the light falls across the castle walls and the mountain slopes. Summer brings boats and visitors to the shore, while autumn colours the surrounding forests. Depending on the view, you may also notice changes in cloud cover that show how quickly weather moves through the valley.
Summers are mild and the lake area is busiest from June to September, while spring and early autumn are calmer and cooler. Winters can be cold and snowy in the mountains. Nearby cameras show the Dunajec Gorge, two mountain lodges and a view from Szczawnica, all within about twelve kilometres, which makes it easy to compare conditions across the region.
