Zakopane - widok na ulicę Krupówki
🇵🇱 Lesser Poland · Poland — Altitude 852 m
This camera looks along Krupówki, the best-known pedestrian street in Zakopane, the winter resort at the foot of the High Tatras. It is useful for seeing how busy the town centre is before you go out, or for keeping an eye on conditions in the mountains from a distance.
Zakopane sits at roughly 850 metres above sea level in the Podhale region of southern Poland, with the High Tatras rising just to the south. It has long been Poland's centre for mountain tourism and winter sports, and its wooden architecture, in the so-called Zakopane style, gives the streets a distinctive character. Krupówki runs through the middle of town and is lined with shops, cafés and small restaurants, many of them serving local mountain cuisine.
Depending on the view, you may see pedestrians strolling in the afternoon and evening, when the street is at its liveliest, along with snow-covered rooftops in winter and bright storefronts after dark. Mornings are usually quieter, and in the warmer months the crowds build up through the day. Weather changes quickly in the mountains, so the stream can be a practical way to check whether it is snowing or clear in town.
Winters are cold and snowy, which is why the town is busiest from December to March, while summers are mild and popular for hiking. Spring and early autumn can be changeable. Krupówki is easy to walk, and the bus and taxi connections from the station reach the surrounding trailheads. Other cameras on the same street, showing nearby sections of the promenade, can give you a fuller picture of the area.
