This live stream looks out over the Orlowo district of Gdynia, on the Pomeranian coast of the Baltic Sea. People check it to see how the sea and sky look right now, before a walk, a drive or a day on the shore. The page also shows the local time and the weather for Gdynia.
Gdynia is a port city on the Gulf of Gdansk, part of the Tricity together with Gdansk and Sopot. Orlowo lies on the northern edge of the city, where the coastline becomes wooded cliffs and sandy beaches facing open water. The city grew quickly in the interwar years as Poland's main Baltic harbour, and its waterfront still mixes shipping, marinas and seaside promenades. The atmosphere is calmer than in the centre, with views toward the Hel Peninsula on clear days.
The camera is set on the Orlowo coast, so the picture is mostly about the sea, the horizon and the sky. Depending on the view, you may see waves, shipping traffic further out and the changing light over the water. Mornings and late afternoons often bring the clearest colours, while stormy weather from the north-west can make the sea look dramatic. Check the live picture and the weather block together to judge conditions.
The Baltic coast has a temperate maritime climate. Summers are mild and the sea is at its warmest from July to August, while winters are cold, grey and windy. Spring and early autumn suit walks along the shore. Gdynia's marina and southern breakwater are a short distance away, and Sopot is about four kilometres along the coast. You can also compare the other cameras listed on this page.
