This live camera looks over the Luna Ses ski slope in Negreşti-Oaş, a small town in Satu Mare county in northwestern Romania. It is useful for seeing whether the piste is open and how much snow is lying before you set off. The page also shows local time and the forecast for the town.
About the town and its setting
Negreşti-Oaş sits at the foot of the Oaş Mountains, close to the Ukrainian border, at an elevation of about 250 metres. The area is known for its forested hills, rural villages and a traditional mountain culture that is still visible in local architecture and festivals. It is a quieter alternative to the larger resorts further east in Romania.
What the camera is for
The camera is aimed at a ski slope, so it is most useful for judging snow cover, daylight conditions and the general state of the piste. Winter mornings are often clearest, while afternoons can bring fog or flat light that lowers visibility. Check the live picture and the weather block together, since fresh snow or thaw can change conditions quickly.
Planning a visit
Ski season usually runs from December to March, when temperatures stay below freezing and snow is most reliable. Summer is mild and suits hiking in the surrounding hills. Baia Mare, about 23 kilometres away, offers larger hotels and services, and Varful Ignis and the Baia Sprie area are other nearby cameras worth comparing.
