This camera looks out over Cala Gat, a small cove on the northeast coast of Mallorca near the town of Cala Ratjada. It is useful for seeing how the sea and sky look right now, before deciding whether a swim or a walk along the shore makes sense. The live player is embedded from its source, with local time and weather shown below.
Cala Ratjada sits on the Capdepera coast in the Balearic Islands, a fishing village that grew into a busy holiday resort. Cala Gat is one of the smaller coves nearby, with rocky shoulders, clear water and a more sheltered feel than the big sandy beaches. The landscape is typical of this part of Mallorca: pine and scrub above the shore, limestone rock and a Mediterranean light that changes quickly through the day.
Because the camera is listed under other views, we describe the scene from its name only. Depending on the angle, you may see the water surface, the shoreline and how many people are on the beach. Mornings are often calm, while the afternoon breeze can roughen the sea. Checking the live view just before going out is the most reliable way to judge conditions.
The area has hot, dry summers and mild winters, with the sea at its warmest from late July to September. Late spring and early autumn are comfortable for walking and swimming with fewer crowds. Cala Ratjada is served by local buses and taxis, and nearby cameras on the same stretch of coast cover the harbour, Son Moll beach and Cala Agulla.
