This camera looks at the Hôtel Ochsen in Arlesheim, a village just south-east of Basel in the canton of Basel-Country. It suits anyone planning a visit to the Basel area who wants to see the street and weather before setting out.

About Arlesheim

Arlesheim sits at the foot of the Jura hills, a short tram ride from Basel. It is best known for its cathedral and the Ermitage, a landscaped park with garden follies that draws walkers year-round. The village keeps the calm feel of a Swiss country town while being close to the city's museums and rail connections.

What the camera shows

The view is of a hotel in the village centre, so activity depends on the time of day and the season. Mornings and early evenings tend to show the most movement, while quiet hours are typical outside the main shopping times. Clear days make the surrounding hillside easier to judge, and the weather panel on this page helps you decide when to check.

Visiting and nearby cameras

Spring and early autumn are the most comfortable seasons for walking, with mild temperatures and fewer crowds than in summer. Winters are cool and often grey, though snow is possible. Nearby on VizCams you can also find a construction site in Pratteln, the Hotel Krafft and the East West Hotel in Basel, and a view of Bâle, each within about eight kilometres.
