🇨🇭 Valais · Switzerland — Altitude 2880 m
This camera looks out from the Eggishorn at about 2,880 metres above Fiesch in the Swiss canton of Valais. Watch high alpine weather roll across the peaks and the glaciers below, and check whether the cloud is lifting before you plan a trip up. The live player is embedded below with local time and forecast beside it.
Fiesch is a village in the Upper Valais, on the Rhône valley floor, and it serves as a gateway to the Aletsch region. The Eggishorn is one of the highest points reached by cable car in the area and sits above the Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps. The landscape is open rock, snow, ice and alpine meadow, shaped by the valley's dry, sunny climate and strong winds at height.
The title points to a mountain summit viewpoint, so the picture is likely to be dominated by peaks, sky and changing cloud rather than village streets. Clear mornings tend to give the sharpest views of the high ridges, while afternoons often bring cloud build-up over the mountains. Winter sun and fresh snow can make the scene especially bright, and it is worth checking the stream when conditions look settled.
The valley has warm summers and cold, snowy winters, and the most reliable walking weather usually falls between late June and September. Getting up to the Eggishorn normally involves the cable car from Fiesch or Fiescheralp, depending on the season and operating times. Nearby VizCams pages include Fiescheralp, the Kühboden view above Fiesch, and the Bettmeralp cameras on the Bettmerhorn and Wurzenbord.
