Château-d'Œx - Vue sur le village
🇨🇭 Vaud · Switzerland — Altitude 1061 m
This live camera looks over the village of Château-d'Œx in the Vaud Alps, a mountain resort known for its hot-air balloon festival. Use it to check the conditions in the valley before you travel or to see how the weather is moving across the Pays-d'Enhaut.
Château-d'Œx sits at about 1,060 metres in the Pays-d'Enhaut, a high valley of meadows and wooden chalets in western Switzerland. The village is best known as the home of the Festival international de ballons, held each January, when the sky above the valley fills with colourful balloons. Its setting between the Saanenland and the Gruyère hills gives it a quiet, rural character that changes sharply with the seasons.
The view is most rewarding in clear weather, when the surrounding slopes and the village rooftops are sharp and the snow line is easy to read. Early mornings often bring calm air and a chance to see mist settling in the valley. On winter days the snow cover shows how much has fallen, and in summer you can judge how green the meadows are. Depending on the framing, you may also notice how fast cloud moves over the ridges.
Winters are cold with reliable snow, which makes the area popular for skiing and snowshoeing, while summers are mild and suited to hiking and cycling. Spring and autumn can be changeable, so check the live weather above before setting out. The village is reached by road and by the regional rail line from Montreux and Gstaad. Nearby cameras include La Braye, Videmanette and the view over Les Mosses.
