This live camera looks out over Ammanford, a market town in the Amman valley of Carmarthenshire. Watch the streets and daily rhythm of the town as it happens, and check the conditions before you travel.
Ammanford sits where the River Loughor meets the Amman valley, in the western part of Wales. The town grew around coal mining and tinplate working and still serves as a shopping and service centre for the surrounding villages and farmland. Its setting between hills and open countryside gives it a quiet, working character rather than a tourist one.
Depending on the view, you may see passing traffic, shoppers and the changing light over the rooftops. Weekday mornings and late afternoons tend to be the busiest, while weekends are calmer. Rain and low cloud are common in this part of Wales, so a grey sky does not mean the camera is not working, and clear spells are worth watching for.
The climate is mild and wet, with the wettest months in winter and the driest and brightest in late spring and summer. The coast at Burry Port is roughly 22 km away, and the Gower peninsula near Swansea lies about 25 km to the south. Several other cameras in the area are listed on this page for comparison.
