Portmeirion - Village
π¬π§ Gwynedd Β· United Kingdom β Altitude 40 m
This live stream looks over the village of Portmeirion on the Dwyryd estuary in north-west Wales. It is useful for seeing current conditions before a visit, especially when the coast is grey or windy. The view is shown as the source provides it, with local time and weather alongside.
Portmeirion was designed by the architect Clough Williams-Ellis from the 1925 onward and built as an Italianate village on a peninsula above the Dwyryd estuary. It is known for its pastel buildings, gardens and wooded slopes, and for its association with the cult television series The Prisoner. The setting between sea and mountains gives it a distinctive atmosphere that changes with the tide and light.
Depending on the view the stream provides, you may see the village rooftops, the surrounding trees and parts of the estuary. Tide movements on the Dwyryd are often the most visible change, so checking at different hours shows a different scene. Clear mornings and late afternoons in good weather usually make the colours of the buildings stand out most.
Gwynedd has a mild, wet maritime climate, with cool summers and mild winters, and rain can arrive quickly from the Irish Sea. Spring and early autumn are often the most comfortable times to visit. Nearby, Porthmadog and Criccieth have their own live cameras, and the Snowdonia cameras show the mountain weather inland.
