This live camera looks out over Clevedon, a small seaside town on the Bristol Channel in Somerset. Use it to check how the sea and sky look before you travel, or simply to see the coast in real time. The page adds local time and the weather outlook beside the stream.
Clevedon sits on the southern shore of the Severn Estuary, where the water is famously muddy and the tidal range is one of the largest in the world. The town grew as a Victorian resort with a long promenade, a pier, and a hillside of older houses behind it. Its character comes from the wide tidal flats, the open horizon and the mix of traditional seafront and quiet residential streets.
Depending on the view, you may see the tide moving across the mudflats, boats on the water, walkers along the front and changing cloud over the estuary. Tide state changes the scene completely, so checking at different hours of the day shows very different pictures. Clear weather and a rising or falling tide tend to make the most interesting viewing, while low grey cloud can soften the horizon.
The area has a mild maritime climate, with cool wet winters and fairly temperate summers, and wind is common off the channel. Late spring and early autumn are often pleasant for a walk along the front. Clevedon is reached by road from Bristol and by rail via nearby stations, and the Portishead and Weston-super-Mare cameras on this site show the wider stretch of coast.
