This live camera looks out over the port at Harbour Isle on Florida's Gulf Coast. It is useful for checking boat traffic, sky and water conditions before heading out, or simply for seeing how the coast looks right now.
Harbour Isle sits on a barrier island linked to the mainland by bridges, a short drive from Sarasota and Tampa Bay. The Gulf of Mexico shapes life here, with calm mornings on the water, warm humid air for much of the year and a relaxed pace shaped by fishing and boating. The island is low-lying, so the horizon and the sky carry much of the view.
A port camera is most rewarding in the morning, when boats leave for fishing and charter trips, and in late afternoon, when returning vessels come in and the light turns golden. Depending on the view, you may see moored boats, marina activity, the water colour changing with the tide and weather moving in from the Gulf. Cloud build-up over the water is common in summer afternoons.
The Gulf Coast climate is mild in winter and hot and humid from June to September, with a real chance of afternoon thunderstorms in summer. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable times to visit. Nearby cameras on this coast include Cortez and Anna Maria about 4 km away, and St. Petersburg and Siesta Key about 29 km away, useful for comparing conditions along the shore.
