This live camera looks at the depot area of Two Harbors, a small lakeside town on Minnesota's North Shore of Lake Superior. It is a practical way to check conditions on the shore before you drive up the North Shore Scenic Drive. The stream is provided by its owner and embedded here with a link back to the source.
Two Harbors sits on the northwestern shore of Lake Superior, about 50 kilometers northeast of Duluth. The town grew around iron ore and rail shipping, and its harbor still reflects that industrial past. Around it the land rises into forested ridges and rocky bluffs typical of the North Shore, and the lake dominates the scenery and the local weather.
The camera's title points to the depot area, so you can expect a view of the town's rail and harbor zone. Depending on the angle, you may see passing trains, lake traffic, and changing light across the water. Mornings and evenings often show the clearest contrast, while fog or wind off the lake can change the view quickly within an hour.
Winters are long and cold, with heavy snow and ice on the lake, while summers are mild and pleasant near the shore. Late summer and early autumn are popular for visiting the North Shore. Nearby cameras include the Silver Creek Township boat launch, the Split Rock Lighthouse, and Beaver Bay, which together give a broader picture of conditions along the coast.
