New York City - High Line
🇺🇸 New York · United States — Altitude 6 m
This live camera looks out over the High Line, the elevated park built on a former freight rail line on Manhattan's West Side. It is a useful way to check how busy the walkway is and what the weather looks like before you head into the city.
The High Line runs above the streets of the Meatpacking District, Chelsea and Hudson Yards, on tracks that once carried freight trains into the city. It was converted into a linear park with planted meadows, benches and views toward the Hudson River. Its surroundings mix old warehouses, galleries and new office towers, so the skyline changes noticeably from block to block.
The image is useful for judging crowd levels on the walkway, which tend to peak on sunny weekend afternoons and during spring and early autumn when the planting is at its best. Evening light can make the buildings and the river stand out. Depending on the view, you may also notice rain, fog off the river or snow, which change how the park looks and feels.
New York has a humid subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers, cold winters and mild spring and autumn, which are generally the most comfortable times for a walk above the streets. The High Line is reached by several staircases and elevators along its length. Nearby cameras on this site cover other parts of Manhattan, including Midtown, Times Square and Mulberry Street, so you can compare conditions across the city.
