About Rockaway Beach
Rockaway Beach sits on a long barrier peninsula at the southern edge of Queens, separating Jamaica Bay from the Atlantic. It is the best known beach within New York City and has a long boardwalk lined with surf shops, food stands and older bungalows. The area is low and flat, so the wide sand and open ocean give it a very different feel from the city just a short subway ride away.
