Beech Mountain - Resort Summit Cam
πΊπΈ North Carolina Β· United States β Altitude 1678 m
This camera looks out from the summit area of Beech Mountain Resort in the Blue Ridge range of western North Carolina. It is useful for judging how the slopes and open terrain look at the moment before you plan a trip or a day on the mountain.
Beech Mountain sits at about 1,678 metres in the Appalachian chain, in the High Country region of North Carolina. The resort is known for its ski slopes, its alpine village feel and its position among the highest inhabited places in the eastern United States. The surrounding forests of spruce, fir and hardwoods change strongly from season to season, and the summit gives wide views when the air is clear.
The view is most informative in winter, when snow cover and slope conditions matter most, and in autumn, when the hardwood forests turn colour. Depending on the view and visibility, you may see ridgelines, lift and slope areas, and changing cloud over the valleys. Mornings are often clearer, while afternoon cloud can build quickly over the peaks.
Winters are cold and snowy at this altitude, while summers are mild and cooler than the lowlands. Check the weather block on this page before travelling, as conditions can change within an hour. Other cameras at the resort, including the entrance, the club and the Parkway location, are listed below for a fuller picture of the mountain.
