Turracherhöhe - Panoramabahn
🇦🇹 Carinthia · Austria — Altitude 1970 m
This live camera looks over the Turracherhöhe mountain pass in the Nock Mountains of Carinthia, at about 1,970 metres. It is useful for seeing how the high Alpine terrain looks right now before you plan a drive or a hike. The live player is paired with local weather and time on this page.
Turracherhöhe sits on one of the highest road passes in Austria, linking the Mur valley with the Lungau region. The landscape is a mix of open alpine meadows, dark spruce forest and rounded summits typical of the Nock Mountains. The area is known as a base for hiking, cycling and winter sports, and its lakes, including the nearby Turracher See, add to the scenery.
Because the camera is aimed at a mountain panorama, the most interesting moments are often early morning, when cloud can sit in the valleys, and late afternoon, when the light softens over the ridges. In summer you may see green slopes and hikers, in winter the snow cover that draws skiers. Weather changes quickly at this altitude, so the view can shift from clear to misty within an hour.
Summers are cool and generally mild, while winters are long and snowy, so the best time to visit depends on whether you want walking or skiing. The pass is reached by road and can be closed or difficult in heavy snowfall, so check conditions before travelling. Nearby cameras on VizCams include the Almzeithütte view, the Hirschkogel view towards the east and the cable car station on the Turrachbahn.
