Ehrwald - Zugspitzbahn Talstation
🇦🇹 Tyrol · Austria — Altitude 1222 m
This live camera looks at the valley station of the Zugspitze cable car in Ehrwald, the gateway to Germany's highest mountain. It is useful for judging how the weather is developing at the foot of the Wetterstein range before you head up. The embedded stream comes from its owner and links back to the source.
Ehrwald is a village in the Ehrwalder Becken, a broad basin in western Tyrol at roughly 1,200 metres above sea level. The Zugspitze, at about 2,962 metres, is the highest peak in Germany and rises just across the border. The village has long served as a base for hiking, climbing and winter sports, and its wooden houses sit against a backdrop of steep limestone walls.
The view is aimed at the lower station, so the most useful information is the sky over the valley, cloud movement along the ridges and the general state of the day. Mornings often bring calm, clear air, while afternoons in summer can bring build-up of clouds over the peaks. In winter, the station area is the place to see fresh snow and how busy the approach is.
Summer is the main season for walking and cable car trips, with the most stable weather usually from late June to September. Winter suits skiing on the Zugspitze glacier area. Nearby cameras on the summit, the glacier ski area and the upper station can help you compare conditions at different heights before you travel.
Check the current weather block on this page before setting out, since mountain conditions can change within an hour. The local time shown here follows Central European time.
