Zugspitze - Station météo - vue sur le sommet vers l'est
🇩🇪 Bavaria · Germany — Altitude 2962 m
This camera looks east from the weather station on the summit of the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. It is a useful window onto high-alpine conditions, where cloud, wind and sunshine can change within minutes. Watch it before planning a trip to the top.
The Zugspitze rises above the Wetterstein range near Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, close to the Austrian border. At 2,962 metres it is the highest point in Germany, and its summit is reached by cable car and rack railway. The landscape around it is rocky and open, with glaciers and limestone ridges falling away toward the valleys. The air is thin and the weather is often more dramatic than the lower Alps.
The camera is aimed eastward from the station, so the picture depends on cloud cover and visibility rather than on any single landmark. On clear days you may see long alpine ridges stretching into the distance. Early morning often brings calm air and sharp light, while afternoons frequently bring cloud build-up in summer. Winter can offer snow-covered slopes and very clear skies between storms.
Temperatures at the summit stay low year-round, and wind speeds can be strong even when the valleys are calm. Summer is the most accessible season for visitors, while the upper station is generally open in winter for skiing and sightseeing as well. Several other cameras from the same mountain are listed below, including views from Ehrwald and the summit plateau, which help show how conditions differ across the massif.
