Schmirn - Gasthaus Olpererblick
🇦🇹 Tyrol · Austria
This live camera looks out from the Gasthaus Olpererblick in Schmirn, a small village in the Tux valley of Tyrol. It gives a steady view of the mountain setting that visitors come here for. Check it before you plan a walk or drive up the valley.
Schmirn is a quiet hamlet in the Tux valley, part of the Zillertal Alps region of western Austria. The valley is known for its high pastures, forests and glaciers at the head of the valley, and for a traditional alpine way of life. Its name is linked to the mountains that rise above the village, including the Olperer. The atmosphere is calm and rural, with few crowds outside the main seasons.
The view is set up around the mountain panorama that gives the inn its name, so the camera is most useful for judging the mountains themselves. Depending on the view, you may see changing light across the peaks, snow cover, clouds building up in the afternoon and clear mornings. Early morning and late afternoon often bring the best light on the rock faces, and the picture is most informative in clear weather.
Summers are mild with warm days and cool nights, while winters are snowy and suited to skiing and winter walks. Spring can be wet and changeable. Schmirn is reached by road up the Tux valley from Mayrhofen and Hintertux is a short drive further on. Other cameras nearby include Hintertux Sommerberg, Navis Peer Alm and the Hintertuxer Glacier views.
