🇦🇹 Upper Austria · Austria — Altitude 655 m
This live camera looks out over Mondsee, a lake town in the Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria. It is a useful way to check how the lake, the surrounding hills and the mountain weather look before you plan a walk, a swim or a drive around the lakes.
Mondsee sits on the shore of its lake at the foot of the Alpine foothills, about 655 metres above sea level. The town is known for its medieval Benedictine abbey church and for being one of the region's classic lakeside settlements. The Salzkammergut lakes lie close by and give the area its character of clear water, green meadows and forested slopes.
The view is most rewarding in the morning, when the lake is often calm and mist can lift off the water, and in the late afternoon, when the light softens over the hills. Clear days show the mountains best, while cloud cover can hide the higher ridges. Seasonal change is strong here, from green summers to snowy winters, so the same view can look quite different across the year.
Summers are mild and well suited to lake activities, while winters are cold with regular snow in the hills. Spring and early autumn are often quiet and pleasant for walking. Nearby on VizCams you can compare conditions at Fuschl am See, the Fuschlsee region and the Oberaschau ski area, all within about ten kilometres.
