About Sorocaba
Sorocaba sits on the Sorocaba River at roughly 570 metres above sea level, about 100 kilometres west of São Paulo city. It grew from a colonial trading town on the road to the south and today is a busy industrial and commercial centre with a large manufacturing base. The landscape is gently rolling, with green hills, farmland and the urban grid spreading across the valley floor.
What the camera shows
The title places this camera at a hotel on the western side of the city, so the view is likely to be of urban rooftops, avenues and the sky over the west. Depending on the angle, you may notice traffic patterns in the morning and evening, and changing cloud over the hills at sunset. Late afternoon tends to give the clearest light for the western outlook, while the wet season brings the most dramatic skies.
Climate and getting around
Sorocaba has a subtropical highland climate with warm, wet summers from December to March and drier, cooler winters from June to August. The dry months are generally the most comfortable time to visit. Nearby cameras on VizCams include the Portal Porque view to the south, about 4 kilometres away, and several views in Itu and São Roque within roughly 30 kilometres.
