Prague - Petrin lookout tower
🇨🇿 Prague · Czechia — Altitude 370 m
This camera looks out from the Petřín lookout tower on the hill above Prague's Lesser Town. It gives a steady view across the rooftops toward the historic centre and the Vltava River. Many people open it before a trip to check how the city looks right now.
Petřín is a wooded hill on the left bank of the Vltava, rising a few hundred metres above the Lesser Town. The lookout tower was built for the 1891 Jubilee Exhibition and is modelled loosely on the Eiffel Tower, which many visitors notice at once. From the top, the city spreads out in red roofs, church spires and bridges. The hill is also known for its gardens, orchards and the funicular that climbs its slope.
Depending on the view, you may see the river, the bridges and the spires of the old town at different hours. Clear mornings tend to show the most detail in the distance, while the late afternoon light warms the rooftops. In autumn the trees on the hill change colour and the view can look quite different from one week to the next. Haze and low cloud can hide the far side of the city, so the picture is worth checking before you judge it.
Prague has warm, fairly wet summers and cold winters, with snow possible from December to February. Spring and early autumn are often the most comfortable times to visit the hill. Reaching the tower usually means a short walk or the funicular from the Lesser Town. Nearby cameras on the same hill and along the river show other parts of the city.
