This live camera looks out over the beach at Le Tréport, a seaside town on the Normandy coast where the Bresle river meets the English Channel. Watch the tide, the sea conditions and the people on the sand as the day unfolds. The page also shows the local time and weather so you can plan a visit.
Le Tréport sits at the mouth of the Bresle, on the chalk cliffs that run along the Alabaster Coast. The town grew up around its fishing port and a seaside resort that became popular in the nineteenth century. Its long pebble and sand beach, the promenade and the cliffs give it a relaxed, traditional French seaside atmosphere, quieter than many larger resorts further along the coast.
The beach view is most interesting at low and high tide, when the sand bank and the water line change noticeably. On sunny weekends in summer you may see families, walkers and swimmers on the shore, while on stormy days the waves and the grey Channel sky tell their own story. Early mornings and late afternoons often bring the softest light across the bay.
The Normandy coast is mild for France, with cool summers and wet, windy winters, so late spring and early autumn are comfortable for walking. Mers-les-Bains, just one kilometre away, offers a continuation of the seafront, and the Eu château gardens are a short drive inland. The Criel-sur-Mer camera nearby shows the neighbouring coastline.
Current conditions and a three-day forecast for Le Tréport appear on this page, along with the local time. Check them before you head to the seafront, since wind and sea state can change quickly along this exposed stretch of coast.
