About Montclar

Montclar sits in the Hautes-Alpes department of southeastern France, above the town of Gap in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. It is a family-oriented resort known for gentle beginner runs and a relaxed atmosphere, with views across the Durance valley and the surrounding limestone ridges. The landscape changes sharply with altitude, from pine woods at the base to open, exposed terrain higher up.

The camera is aimed at the snow front, so the view is most informative in winter, when you can judge the depth of fresh snow and how busy the lower slopes are. Practical notes

Montclar is best enjoyed from late December to March, when the season is running and snow cover is reliable at this altitude. Gap, the nearest larger town, has the main rail and road connections and is about a half hour drive away.
