Όρος Πάρνηθας Βόρεια
🇬🇷 Attica · Greece — Altitude 1160 m
This camera looks out over the northern side of Mount Parnitha, the forested massif just north of Athens. It is useful for checking whether the mountain is clear, cloudy or windy before a walk or drive up from the city.
Mount Parnitha rises north of the Greek capital and is one of the largest protected forest areas in the Attica region. Its slopes are covered with pine and fir woodland, and the summit area is known for its wide views over the Athens basin. Altitude here is around 1,160 metres, so conditions can differ noticeably from the city below. The mountain has long been a retreat for Athenians seeking cooler air and quiet paths.
The picture shows the mountain landscape, so the main things to follow are cloud cover, haze over the plain and whether the ridges are visible. Clear mornings tend to give the best visibility, while afternoon clouds often build over the peaks in warmer months. Winter brings snow at this height on some days, which is worth watching if you plan to visit by car.
Summers are hot and dry in the city but noticeably milder on the mountain, while winters can be cold and wet with occasional snow. Spring and autumn are generally the most comfortable times for walking. Other cameras nearby include Mount Parnitha East and the Flampouri refuge at Acharnes, which help you compare conditions across the massif.
