This live stream shows Patmos, a small island in the South Aegean Sea. The page lets you check the current view, the local time and the weather before you plan a trip or simply want to see how the sea and sky look there today.
Patmos is one of the Dodecanese islands, lying to the west of Turkey and north of Leros. It is known as the place where Saint John is traditionally believed to have written the Book of Revelation, and its monastery and old town of Chora draw visitors from across the world. The landscape is rocky and dry, with whitewashed houses and a deeply indented coastline of small bays and coves.
Depending on the view, you may see the harbour, the sea and boats moving between the islands. The light is most appealing in the early morning and in the late afternoon, when the colours of the water and hills change. Clear days give the best visibility, while windy weather can bring waves and fast-moving clouds across the Aegean.
Patmos has hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. The best months for a visit are generally May, June, September and October, when temperatures are comfortable and the crowds are smaller. Ferries connect the island with Leros, Kalymnos and other Dodecanese islands, and nearby cameras on Kalymnos, Amorgos, Kos and Mastichari show neighbouring points in the region.
