Val Gardena - Forcella del Sassolungo
๐ฎ๐น Trentino-South Tyrol ยท Italy โ Altitude 2685 m
This live camera looks out from the Forcella del Sassolungo pass in Val Gardena, one of the best-known valleys of the Italian Dolomites. It is a useful place to check mountain conditions before heading up, or simply to watch cloud move over the peaks. The stream is shown in HD with a link to its source.
Val Gardena lies in the Trentino-South Tyrol region of northern Italy, where German and Italian traditions meet. The valley is famous for its dramatic dolomite towers, alpine meadows and wooden farmhouses, and it is one of the centres of the Sella Ronda ski circuit. Its villages are small and quiet, shaped by farming, woodcarving and mountain tourism. The air at the pass is thin and clear, and the rock faces change colour noticeably through the day.
This camera is positioned at a mountain pass at about 2,685 metres, so the view is typically dominated by rock, sky and high terrain. Depending on the view, you may see snow on the slopes in cooler months and clouds forming over the ridges in the afternoon. Early morning and late evening tend to give the most striking light on the dolomite walls. Visibility can change quickly with weather, so the stream is worth checking before you plan a trip.
Summer and early autumn are generally the most comfortable seasons for walking in the area, while winter brings skiing across the connected slopes. Temperatures at this altitude are much colder than in the valley floor, even in summer, so bring layers. Nearby cameras include Selva Val di Gardena, Wolkenstein at Piz Sella and Wolkenstein at Ciampinoi, which give views of other parts of the valley.
