🇯🇵 Fukuoka · Japan — Altitude 395 m
This live stream looks out over Hiraodai Nature Village, a visitor area on the Hiraodai limestone plateau near Kitakyushu in Fukuoka Prefecture. It is useful for checking conditions on the plateau before you travel, or simply for a quiet look at the highland scenery. The page adds local time and weather above the player.
Hiraodai sits at roughly 400 metres above sea level in the hills south of Kitakyushu. It is known for its karst landscape, where rainwater has dissolved the limestone over long periods, leaving hollows, grassy slopes and rocky outcrops. The Nature Village is one of the main gateways to the plateau, and the wider area is valued by walkers and people who want a break from the city. The air and vegetation change noticeably compared with the coast.
The camera is most useful for judging the sky and cloud over the plateau, which often differs from conditions in the lowlands. Mornings can bring mist in the valleys, while clear afternoons show the open grassland most clearly. Seasonal changes in the grass and trees are easiest to notice in spring and autumn. Depending on the view, you may see walkers, parked vehicles or the edge of the village buildings.
Kitakyushu has a humid subtropical climate with hot, rainy summers and mild winters, and the plateau is generally cooler than the city. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons for walking. The nearby Hiraodai camera offers a second view of the same area, and the Shimonoseki and Okagaki cameras cover other parts of Fukuoka region for comparison.
