This live stream looks out from the Laem Thaen coast at Bang Saen, a seaside town on the Gulf of Thailand east of Bangkok. It is run by GISTDA, Thailand's space agency, as part of its coastal monitoring network. Watch it to see conditions on the water and along the shore before you plan a trip.
Bang Saen is a long-established beach town in Chon Buri province, about an hour and a half's drive from Bangkok. For decades it has been a weekend escape for city residents, with a broad sandy shore, seafood restaurants and a promenade lined with trees. The area sits on the eastern seaboard, which is one of the busiest and most industrialised coasts in the country, so the shoreline mixes leisure and working waterfront.
The camera is part of a coastal monitoring system rather than a tourist viewpoint, so its title tells you the purpose: observing the sea and shoreline at Laem Thaen. Depending on the view, you may notice how the water changes colour with the tide, how clouds build over the gulf in the afternoon, and how boats move in and out. Mornings are often calm and clear, while late afternoon and rainy-season weather bring the most dramatic skies.
The coast is hot and humid most of the year. The cooler, drier months from roughly November to February are generally the most comfortable for visiting, while the rainy season from May to October brings heavy but usually short downpours. Other coastal cameras from GISTDA cover Phraek Sa Mai and Pattaya, both within about an hour along the same shoreline, which helps you compare conditions along the gulf.
