This live stream looks out over Yosemite, one of the best-known national parks in the United States, set in the granite and forest country of the central Sierra Nevada. It is a useful way to check mountain conditions before you plan a trip or simply enjoy the view from afar.
Yosemite lies in eastern California, roughly 1,200 metres above sea level, and is famous for its sheer granite cliffs, giant sequoia groves and waterfalls. The valley was carved by glaciers and draws visitors from around the world throughout the year. The landscape changes sharply between the valley floor and the high country, so conditions can differ a lot from one part of the park to another.
The stream is most rewarding in the early morning, when light moves across the cliffs, and at sunset, when the granite glows. Snow, cloud and fog can change the scene quickly, and in spring you may notice meltwater swelling the falls. Watch the sky and the tree line to get a sense of the current weather before deciding when to visit.
Summers are warm and dry in the valley, while winters bring snow to higher elevations and can close some roads. Spring and autumn are often the most comfortable seasons for walking. Nearby cameras on this page include Curry Village at Mirror Lake, Midpines and Oakhurst, which can help you compare conditions across the surrounding Sierra foothills.
